Up More About Cyprus Map

Cyprus is a fantastic place to be. For a holiday, a base for a permanent holiday home or to retire here permanently... once you've visited and seen the beautiful sights and experienced the extraordinary hospitality of the people it's very hard to stay away!
Cyprus benefits from a wonderfully warm Mediterranean climate with over 300 days of sunshine per year. Summer days are wonderfully long and hot and if lying on the beach is your thing there are plenty of long sandy beaches and secluded coves to choose from.
The main beaches are marked with safe swimming areas and mostly have lifeguards on duty while other water sports including jet skis are available too. For the more adventurous, Cyprus offers fantastic scuba diving (the water reaches 27°C (80°F) in Summer and the wreck of the Zenobia in Larnaca harbour is rated as one of the top ten in the world).

However, if being a beach bum is not your thing then Cyprus has much, much more to offer. The countryside is absolutely spectacular and largely unspoilt once you are away from the main towns and tourist areas.

Unlike the UK the countryside is not fenced and is available to the public - fancy parking the car here and exploring? The vistas range from rugged mountains (you can ski on Mount Olympus in the winter!) to Mediterranean forests, vineyards and plantations of fruit that stretch as far as you can see...
Crime is practically nonexistent here which comes as a shock to UK residents! Local people regularly leave cars and houses unlocked which takes a little getting used to... More importantly, you feel safe here and entirely comfortable that your wife and children can venture out on their own without having to worry about their welfare until they return.
A wide range of food is available to suit every taste including delicious Cyprus specialities. Cyprus Meze is a 'must try' dish which consists of a seemingly endless stream of small dishes rather like a Spanish Tapas and can be meat, fish or mixed.
